If your old phone is starting to show signs of old age, then think about replacing it with the Panasonic KX-TG8524EB. The 4 phones that come included in the set should prove enough to cover every important room in the house. As long as they are within range of the base station, you can answer from anywhere. And do not worry about the set not covering a regular flat, or a large house, because it does. Even its smaller cousin, the Panasonic KX-TG8523EB, is capable of doing that.
In fact, the 3 phones included in the latter package could prove to be more useful in a smaller apartment, or more cost efficient, anyway. Basically, the two sets have the same properties and design. The only thing that sets them apart is an extra phone.
The handset comes with a 2 inch LCD colour display. The relatively large display size makes reading a pleasure. The answering machine, which is capable of storing 40 minutes of messages, can be accessed via handset. The base station, however, is where you are notified if there are any messages left.
Another highlighting point is the extended lifespan. You can talk on the phone continuously for 17 hours, while the stand-by period is 180 hours. Other features included in the Panasonic KX-TG8524EB set and its cousin are: the ability to block 30 phone numbers (phone barring), speed dial, night mode, or privacy mode. Night mode refers to disabling a handset from ringing during specific hours. The call can still be received on that unit, if needed. And privacy mode disables the other handsets from eavesdropping on your conversation.
Naturally, time and date are displayed on each handset. And every handset can be personalized with a background picture and individual ringtones (there are 20 polyphonic melodies to choose from). Sending a text message is also an option, and can be done even in the dark, thanks to the illuminated keypads.
Also, the sets can be used to act as an intercom unit. Instead of shouting at the kids, you calmly and politely tell them over the phone to do some chores, or else. It may not be as fun, but your vocal chords will be less strained.
One last thing we want to mention is that the setup process is very simple and straightforward. The manual is explicit, and navigating through the menus is quite intuitive. Overall, the Panasonic KX-TG8524EB and its tri-unit cousin are well worth the investment.
